I am a qualified Meditation Teacher (with Distinction) as accredited by The British School of Meditation and Ofqual. I have been a dedicated meditator for over 40 years and I am passionate about teaching meditation as I have seen its transformative power in my life and others. For example overcoming the physical and mental challenges of work/life balance and anxiety and stress involved in interviews, exams, bereavements, breakups, parenting (the list is endless, it is Life with a capital L). I share my personal journey as part of the teaching process
While I teach meditation in a secular way grounded in neuroscience my teaching influences include Advaita Vedanta (non-dualism), Kriya Yoga and Zen Buddhism. I am also a trained Teacher of Presence graduating from Eckhart Tolle’s School of Awakening in 2023.
Over the last decade I was an Assistant Teaching Professor and Teaching Fellow and taught Film, Television and Media as well as English for Academic Practice in various Universities in England. I was nominated many times by students as Outstanding Lecturer in The School of Arts winning it outright on one occasion.
I also have a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (with Teaching Distinction) and have a strong creative background having been a documentary Producer and Director for 25 years in UK Network Television with the BBC, ITV, CH4 and Sky. I am therefore very aware of the pressures and intensity of professional positions and the need for an ability to deal with stressful situations, tight deadlines and project deliveries.
From that, I also have a keen interest in how your creative output and learning abilities might be enhanced by the techniques of meditation. It has helped with my own CPD as well as my ventures into acting, playwrighting, poetry and public speaking. My aim is to help you achieve your full potential in work as well as play.
Laughter is important to wellbeing and is central to my teaching style and I have given a TEDx talk on The Power of Laughter highlighting the healing and joyful aspects of laughter and humour as a teaching tool.
